Independent Parental Supporter at Meetings

This page explains how we can help with meetings, including tribunals and exclusions.

Our volunteer Independent Parental Supporters (IPSs) encourage parents and carers to be fully involved as partners in their child's education, by working alongside them, explaining, supporting and enabling.

An IPS can help to:
Bullet point fill out forms
Bullet point prepare paperwork
Bullet point access relevant information
Bullet point explain procedures
and will
Bullet point give emotional and practical support at meetings
Bullet point sit with parents and assist at meetings and hearings
Bullet point enable parents to fully participate which may include speaking on behalf of the parent with their agreement
Bullet point make notes on behalf of the parent
An IPS will not:
Bullet point give their personal opinion
Bullet point act as a representative for a parent
